We’re the largest provider of scholarships at the University of Cambridge – supporting around 1,500 scholars each year. In our 40-year history, we have awarded funding to 22,000+ students from 150+ countries, removing financial barriers and enabling access to life-changing opportunities for education and research.

he McCall MacBain Scholarships at McGill are Canada’s first comprehensive, leadership-driven scholarships for master’s and professional degree studies. The scholarship program brings together a diverse group of scholars who aspire to lead with purpose – those who have demonstrated leadership potential and an inner drive to make a positive impact in other people’s lives. The scholarships were announced in February 2019 by John and Marcy McCall MacBain, through a landmark gift of $200 million. At the time, it was the single largest gift in Canadian history. Based on their work over the years with some of the top scholarships around the world – such as the Rhodes Scholarships in Oxford, the Mandela Rhodes Scholarships in Cape Town, and the Kupe Scholarships in New Zealand – they felt Canada needed a comprehensive master’s-level scholarship that builds on, but is not limited to, academic excellence. Since 2021, we have offered over 600 scholarships and awards to exceptional students from across Canada and around the world. Each year, we select up to 30 McCall MacBain Scholars and offer an additional 100 one-time awards to top candidates, representing an annual investment of $3 million in tuition and living costs alone.​

The “Erasmus” programme was originally established by the European Union in 1987. It looked to promote closer cooperation between universities and higher education institutions across Europe. This meant setting up an organised and integrated system of cross-border student interchange. Over time, the programme has expanded in its breadth and depth and is now known as “Erasmus+”. Its extended form is a broad umbrella framework which combines former EU’s different schemes for transnational cooperation and mobility in education, training, youth and sport in Europe. Increasingly, it is also looking beyond Europe. Since the start of the programme in 1987, over 16 million people have taken part in Erasmus+, thanks to enthusiastic take-up of opportunities by staff, students, young people and learners of all ages.
