Adjusting to university life was somewhat challenging at first, being an international student and having to adapt to an American academic curriculum. I admit that I was a little afraid at first of all of the projects and exams that came with being an engineer. However that fear quickly went away with all of the new friends I made: some being from as far away as New York, Arizona, Texas, and even within the state of Florida. I really enjoy the school pride here, and UM being a great football school has allowed me to embrace some of the American culture and experience the true joy of being a Hurricane at live football games with my fellow freshman. However, I never forget my Bahamian heritage as I constantly wear clothes of aquamarine, gold, and black to remind myself of where I came from. All in all, I really enjoy the experience of being a college student!
